Sherry G, President News from the Vice President at the Fat Quarter Corner (just a few inches shy of a complete yard!)9/2/2021 Hello to Everyone!
September’s meeting features world class landscape quilter Ann Loveless from northern Michigan. If you do not know much about Ann, you might want to take a look at her website, www.quiltsbyann.com. At her website you can see many of the different types of quilts Ann is famous for. She exhibits at many shows, and was the 2013 and 2015 first place winner of Artprize in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Ann developed three main styles of landscape quilts: Collage Quilts (which she taught to our guild several years ago), Mosaic Quilts, and Impressionistic Quilts (this year’s workshop). Don’t miss the September meeting where you will learn about her techniques and see many of her designs. We still have a few spaces open for her workshop on Wed. Sept. 15. Just a reminder that we will have no show and tell at the September meeting. Non-members who wish to attend Ann’s lecture will be charged $10. Bring some extra money to purchase some of Ann’s goodies. ******************* Hello to Everyone! Now that we are back to in-person meetings, I trust that most of us are feeling better and looking forward to this month’s meeting. This month our president, Gorby, is going to show us how to make some quick, easy, and useful gifts for Christmas. I find that I never get started soon enough making Christmas gifts. Handouts with complete instructions will be available so be sure to pick up a copy so you can follow along with Sherry’s demonstrations. Be sure to bring your work for show and tell. Upcoming meetings: Two national speakers and teachers In September, Ann Loveless from northern Michigan will make her presentation to the guild and teach a workshop the following day. We still have a few openings for that workshop, and I will have the sign-up sheet available. Members who took Ann’s class a few years ago raved about how much fun it was and how much they learned. Don’t miss an opportunity to learn from this talented woman. She is not teaching the same workshop she taught before. No Show and Tell. Coming in October is a lecture and trunk show by Color Girl Quilts. You won’t want to miss this meeting. November brings Nancy Mahoney with a trunk show and two workshops. Vice President MVQG Notes from the President, MVQG:
Hello, MVQG membership! We are about four weeks away from our first meeting in well over a year. We would like to see as many people as possible because we need to discuss a possible permanent "change in location" for all future meetings. Mask restrictions have been lifted but if you're unsure, you can still wear one. We ask that if you are not feeling well, please stay home and we'll see you next time. Please remember that our meetings are still SCENT FREE, so please--no heavy perfumes, hairspray, lotions, etc., as some of us have health issues. Show n Tell is limited to two (2) projects per person please! Good morning, fellow quilters! Just a note to let you know that all meetings
and workshops have been canceled until June. Speakers and workshops are in the process of being rescheduled. Based on the survey results, most people felt agreeable to try for a meeting in June. This meeting will just be a chance to get together to catch up and have a Show and Tell. More information about this meeting and where it will be located will be sent out later. I'm sure we all will have lots of quilts to share. Happy quilting, everyone! Just a quick reminder regarding our 2021 dues. I know it's been a long time since we've had a meeting and it will be awhile yet, BUT we do have on-going expenses (website, storage unit, etc.) and the pandemic is not stopping that. We are only asking for voluntary payments (any amount) for 2021 dues. If you're unable to do so, that's OK. We usually bring in around $2,000 and we're not even close to half way. I just wanted to put this out there in case it slipped your mind. Thank you in advance and I sure hope everyone is doing well. Mail your membership to:
PO Box 340141, Beavercreek, OH 45434. Your President, Gorby Meetings for January, February and March have been canceled. This includes workshops. We will continue to evaluate the situation and hope we can meet again soon. Keep quilting!
