QUILTS OF VALOR
The Quilts of Valor program within the Miami Valley Quilters’ Guild is part of the Quilts of Valor Foundation, a national organization that began in 2003 with the mission to cover Service Members and Veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor. Across the United States, more than 380,000 quilts have been awarded.
Starting in 2013, the Miami Valley Quilters’ Guild has awarded around 100 Quilts of Valor annually throughout the Miami Valley and beyond! This wouldn’t be possible without the dedication and support our guild members. Between individual work, QOV sew-ins, and the annual QOV block drive, our guild members make hundreds of blocks and piece tops that are machine-quilted, bound, and presented in matching cases.
We fulfill QOV requests that come in locally and through the national website. We even work with large groups, sometimes awarding up to 30 quilts at a time! Those groups include the Beavercreek and Xenia Senior Centers, the Miami Valley Railway Society, the 20th Helicopter Special Ops reunion, and more.

2021 Year-End Report
Our ninth year of Quilts of Valor has been our biggest yet!! We have surpassed awarding 500 quilts as a guild (which included 124 quilts in 2021)!!
So many "thank yous" go out to the piecers, quilters, binders, requesters, presenters, our treasurer, and people who have donated fabric and money. Guild members are taking the initiative to organize their own presentations (group and individual), yet want them listed as part of our guild totals. It warms my heart!
I hope that you enjoy reading "2021 By The Numbers" - it really speaks to what this guild has done in our community and beyond!

We only had three months of QOV sew-ins, because of COVID, but had parking lot meet-ups during the other months. Lots of work at home this year! With The Little Shop of Stitches going online only in January 2022, we are in the process of securing another place for our monthly sew-ins. Plans are in the works, but not finalized yet. Hopefully we will have news in the Spring! And as always, we have lots of tops - need long arm quilters! E-mail me at [email protected], if you can help with quilting!
Eternally grateful for all of you and your dedication to our military.
