Q
From the President and Vice President: Announcements:
September: It is Basket Auction time! Many of you may have participated in this fun and exciting event last year. This is so much fun and a wonderful fund-raiser for the guild! Please consider being part of the fun by contributing a basket for this auction. All you need to do, either as individuals or as a team, is to fill a basket with quality items. You can base your basket on a theme (sewing, food, health and wellness – just examples) or no theme at all – you or your teams’ basket can be whatever you want – let’s just ensure the baskets are quality, sought-after items! Size of the basket is up to you! This is a way for creativity and quality to add to good-natured competition for sought-after baskets at the auction. The more baskets we have – the more fun! Be sure to bring lots of quarters with you – we will have limited quarters available for purchase. October: We are very happy to announce that in October we will have Laura Gilmartin from Virginia as our guest presenter, who will also host two teaching workshop events. Laura is an award-winning thread painting and Tsinko inks artist. You will be impressed with her knowledge and tips. This is a great way to add to your project knowledge. We are very fortunate to have acquired Laura and her time! She was interested in seeing the shop hop at the Nutter Center which is occurring at this same time and was gracious to provide teaching opportunities for our Guild members during this time she is in the local area. Very special for us as she will not be teaching at the Nutter, but instead with our Guild. Her presentation/lecture at our MVQG October meeting is titled “Art is a Many Splendored Seam”. In addition, she will be instructing two hands-on workshops/classes. Space will be limited, so sign up early! The two classes she is offering are: Tsinko Inks Tulip Class: Wednesday, October 11: 12:30-4:30 p.m., Bethel Location. Cost $45 for MVQG members; $55 for non-members. Landscape Choices for Thread Painting: Thursday, Oct 12: 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Bethel Location. Cost $60 for MVQG members; $70 for non-members. See Calendar for pics of workshop projects. Please make sure you are signed up for one or both by the September meeting. Lead- time is needed well ahead of the October workshops to prep for these workshops. Once the classes are paid and confirmed, we will send out the supply lists. Classes will be at Bethel Community Church in Medway. We usually do a group lunch for this workshop site. If you have any suggestions or contribution, please talk with Mary Ann C. or Pat H. either at the Guild meeting or directly by phone.
