From the President and Vice President:
Announcements:
  • Our next Guild meeting is on Tuesday, November 14, at 6:30.  We will start on time.  Our meetings are always held the 2nd Tuesday of the month.
  • We are aggressively pursuing members to run for four offices for the Guild; President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.  Elections will be held in November for Officers for Calendar Year 2024. Candidates for these offices are needed to keep your Guild running.  PLEASE consider becoming involved and being a part of the success of the Guild.
  • Please find your name badge and wear it to Guild meetings.  It is a good way to get to know each other, an ice-breaker for new folks, and a conversation starter.  Lost your Guild name badge?  Make one!  Get creative – but prominently display your name!  You never know when there will be a surprise pop-up drawing for a little thank-you gift for wearing your name tag!
  • MVQG Board Meeting:  Our next Board meeting will be held Thursday, November 9, at Sharing Stitches Conference Room in Xenia.  We plan to discuss planning for next year as well as a review of each Committee business.  You are all welcome to attend if desired.

Guild Meetings
November
Elections will be held.  PLEASE consider running and contributing your time and talent to this Guild!
Mary Ann and Pat will be hosting a “Have your Cake and Eat it Too” game night.  The musical sit-down “Cake Walk” will be further explained at our meeting.  Donated material has been cut by a team of members into Layer Cake and Charm packages as “prizes” for winning.  We will play several rounds until prizes have been all drawn.  After the game, we have planned a social time set aside with homemade cakes and cupcakes to be served with water, coffee, or tea available.
During Coffee (et al) and Cake, Show and Tell will be held.  Please bring your creations for others to see!  Limit 2 per person please so everyone has a chance.
December
Christmas Carry-in!   Everyone planning to attend please bring a dish to share with 8-10 people.  Last name ending in A – M please bring a side dish or a main dish.  Last name ending in N – Z please bring a dessert.
Connie M is our new Hospitality Chair and is very involved in making this Christmas a special event for the Guild.   Her input for the newsletter follows below with details.  She will also explain our Christmas party further in our next Guild meeting.
Don’t forget your Christmas Blocks!  Pattern and instructions for building the simple block are on our web site.  One block submitted in December puts you in the drawing for winning all the blocks submitted (last year so many blocks submitted we had enough for two full quilts, so there were 2 winners).  Bring back the finished quilt top in June and the Guild will provide $50 toward the cost of finishing the quilt.

Michelle P., President and Mary Ann C., Vice President

December Party Carry-In
Quilters! It’s that time of the year again to celebrate the spirit of Christmas at our annual Christmas party! This year’s theme is “Angel’s among us” and we need your help. We are asking for donations of food, decorations, and volunteers.
We need all kinds of foods such as meat, sides, salads and desserts. We will also need table decorations such as candles, Christmas decorations and a few more table runners.
If there is enough interest, we would also like to have a Christmas ornament gift exchange. Homemade ornaments are encouraged.
The most important thing we need is YOU. We need volunteers to help us put on a great party!
We’re asking people with last names ending A-M to bring a side or main dish; last names ending N-Z to bring a dessert, or if you would like to contact me directly, you can do that as well by phone or email.
We really appreciate all your help with this Christmas party. I know this year will yet again be another successful event.
Connie M., Hospitality Coordinator

Quilts of Valor
Happy Fall.
Now that everyone is in the middle of Christmas gift making, I am not having QOV sew-ins for Nov or Dec. We will start back up in January, as long as Mother Nature is good to us.
This month is our big month for presentations.
Regarding the block drive, I will be drawing names for 4 gift cards during the November meeting.  If you can’t come to the November meeting, I will be collecting the blocks at the December meeting as well.
Happy Thanksgiving, Patty H., QOV Chair

Retreat
Wow, the retreat sold out the first day!  It will be a Flamazing Retreat!  Don’t forget the theme involves flamingos. You and your besties can glam it up with matching shirts, hats, etc. Or wear pink!  We will have an area decorated for a photo backdrop to get pictures. Of course, you don’t have to participate in dressing up. Just be yourself, and be comfortable to sew!

Life happens, so we may have cancellations.  If you missed out on signing up, you can get on a wait list. Contact Carol Gibson, [email protected], to have your name put on a list for openings. Carol will contact you if an opening occurs.

Balance due on your retreat reservation must be paid by the January meeting. If you don’t know the amount due, contact Carol.  Carol will be available to take your money before the guild meetings.

Retreat Lunches (optional):
Starting at 5:30 p.m., before the Guild meeting on Tuesday, we will be collecting forms and money for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday lunches. You can pick one day, or all three, to have a delivered lunch. The form is on the http://MVQGohio.com website.  Please fill the form out completely.  There are options that must be chosen.  Please bring a check made out to MVQG, or cash.  Try to bring the correct amount due if possible.  The line will move much quicker if you can do so. We will collect at the December meeting if you can’t make it Tuesday.

The Retreat Team is looking forward to making the retreat Flamazing!!

Thanks
Cindy R, Retreat Chair
