Hello Miami Valley Quilters' Guild!
I want to give a special thank you to everyone who shared a skill at the August meeting and to Bonnie for coordinating the event. Melody H., president Upcoming meetings: September Guild Meeting – Tuesday, September 10 at 6:30pm The Redneck Quilter™ will be joining us for a trunk show! He is local to Parkersburg, WV and a Certified Studio 180 Designs Instructor. Brian has over 22+ years of experience as a quilter, instructor, pattern designer, and a longarmer. He will be teaching the “Flock Around The Block” workshop on September 11, with an optional cutting/prep time on September 10. Class is $45, plus you’ll need your supplies the $9.99 pattern and the $29.99 Deb Tucker Wing Clipper ruler if you don’t have that yet. Spots are still available. View details here. October Guild Meeting – Tuesday, October 8 at 6:30pm October will bring a program and show from Sacred Threads. The new venue for this amazing international quilt show is now in our backyard. It has a beautiful setting in Indianapolis! Retreat registration also begins at 5pm during the October meeting. Our November meeting is now our Basket raffle and fundraiser. And of course, our December meeting is our give back to our members in the way of our annual Christmas party. Registration will open at 5pm during our October meeting for our next retreat on President's Day Weekend, February 15-17, 2025. Last year it sold out quickly, so be sure to attend or have someone register you on your behalf. As a reminder, you must be a guild member to register, and your 2025 guild member dues must be paid in full by the January meeting. Please DO NOT combine payments your membership dues and retreat fee. To make registration more efficient, please download and fill out your registration form ahead of time and have your $50 payment (cash or check) ready. We meet every Monday from 11am – 4pm, plus the second and fourth Fridays of the month from 11am – 4pm. If you are joining to help us sew community quilts, your entry will be free! Otherwise, the cost is $2, but if you’re a member of the Fairborn Senior Center, it’s only $1. Come join the fun! Quilts of Valor Our upcoming sew-ins are below. Thank you, Barb Walthall, Sunshine Chair In the Community Shared from a MVQG member: The Remembrance Quilt Guild in Springfield is having their bi-annual fundraiser on Monday, September 23 at 6:30pm, which is a basket/container auction located at Northminster Presbyterian Church. There will be all sorts of baskets to be auctioned off – theme baskets, OSU, Halloween, movie night, Christmas, sewing/quilting related. pasta, baking, soap baskets, etc. You are invited to join! Cash and/or check only.
