A Note from our President
Welcome to 2026! I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday season and I am looking forward to a great new year for our guild. For those that don’t know me, my name is Carol Gibson and I am your new president. I have been with the guild for 8 years. During that time, I have worked on about 7 of the Winter Retreats and I have been the coordinator for the Community Quilts for the past 4 years. I am looking forward to being your president for the next 2 years. If you have any suggestions of things you would like to see or do at our meetings, please let me or Jesse know. If you haven’t already paid your dues for 2026, you can do so at the January meeting. Yearly dues are $25.00. If you are signed up for the retreat, dues must be paid by the January meeting. Upcoming Guild Events January Guild Meeting Tuesday, January 13 at 6:30 pm This year is the 50th anniversary of the founding of our guild! To celebrate, we're going to have a brief talk about the early years by a founding member, and we'd like everyone to bring the first quilt they ever made for show-n-tell! (Or the earliest quilt you've made for those who've given away their first quilt.) The guild will be serving coffee & hot chocolate, and those who would like to may bring a batch of cookies to share. February Guild Meeting Tuesday, February 10 at 6:30 pm 2026 Challenge Reveal Meeting! In this meeting we'll show and vote for our favorite 2026 challenge quilt. The theme is "Celebrating Your Birthday Month." The challenge is to create a 20"x20" wall hanging sized quilt that signifies the month in which you were born. Get creative and use any inspiration you have (birthstone, flower, zodiac sign, color, holiday, season, etc.). Winter Quilt Retreat Saturday, February 14 – Monday, February 16 March Guild Meeting Tuesday, March 10 at 6:30 pm Cassandra Beaver, The (Not So) Dramatic Life, from Urbana, Ohio will be joining us for a lecture "On the Wild Side: Foundation Paper Piecing Animals and Other Irregular Shapes." March Workshop Wednesday, March 11 Cassandra will teach a class the day following our monthly meeting: Foundation Paper Piecing Irregular Shapes. Create an adorable polar bear Foundation Paper Pieced (FPP) block! In this class, you will learn techniques to streamline FPP when all of the segments are different sizes and shapes. Quilts of Valor The new QOV committee begins the new year with lots of enthusiasm and plans to honor our active military and veterans! But we need your help! Here are some ways in which you can get involved:
Scrap City Please continue sorting through your stash for quilting cottons you are willing to part with. Contributions should be no smaller than 5” squares, but feel free to bring in large cuts as well. Precuts are also welcome. See Deanna T. for more information.
