Hello Miami Valley Quilters' Guild,
Hope you're having a great summer! This month Angela Huffman of quilted Joy will join us for a lecture and trunk show. You won't want to miss it! See below for more details. Show and Tell will be for the petal party sew a along. Time will be limited so please save your other show and tell items for the September meeting. Save the date! The September meeting will be our annual basket raffle quarter auction fundraiser. Please stop by the registration table and let us know if you will be bringing a basket to raffle. More info below. We still have a few spaces available for the October retreat. See below. You can also order meals for retreat at the August and September meetings. Stop by the registration table to see available options and to place your orders. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month at the Knob Prairie Church in Enon. Doors open at 5:30 and the meeting starts promptly at 6:30. Just a reminder, our meetings are scent free. See you soon! Melody H., President Upcoming meetings: Board Meeting – Thursday, August 7 at 6:00pm Members are welcome to attend. It will be held in the first-floor conference room at the Wingard Building (492 W Second St, Xenia OH 45385). August Guild Meeting & Guild Sew-in – Tuesday, August 12 Angela Huffman of Quilted Joy will join us for a lecture! Known best as the co-host of PBS’ Fons & Porter’s Love of Quilting show, Angela's superpower is breaking down complex topics into approachable and whimsical bite-sized bits. We will also have show and tell for all our members quilts in the 2025 Petal Party Sew-along & Round Robin Challenge. This uses block patterns designed by Angela. Members will have a chance to vote for your favorite quilt during peer voting in the meeting. Angela will be hosting her Blue Ridge Love workshop the following day. September Guild Meeting – Tuesday, September 9 One of our great fundraisers for the year is back – the Basket Raffle/Quarter Auction! All members are invited to create and donate “baskets” of items to be auctioned off throughout the night! Baskets are made in all sizes and many themes from sewing, food, wellness, etc. This is a great fundraiser for the guild to support our various activities. Be sure to bring your quarters, basket, and be ready for a night of fun! From the Vice President & Workshops: The website calendar is updated through the end of the year. There is still space to join Angela’s workshop this month for only $60! Sign-ups are also open for a two-day workshop with the Redneck Quilter in October for only $45. For this month’s Blue Ridge Love Wallhanging workshop, you should have received your supply list by email. Need this or have any questions? Don’t hesitate to send me an email. Thank you, Debbie M., Vice President Quilts of Valor: The Veteran’s Day Block Drive has begun! Pick up a bag of scraps at the August and September meetings, then return them at the November meeting.
