Hello Miami Valley Quilters' Guild,
I don't know about you, but I am ready for spring! It feels like we've had the longest winter in recent history. I hope you've had a lot of time to sew and create and I can't wait to see your latest projects. We welcome Kathy Gordon back this month for another trunk show and lecture. She was a delight, and we look forward to what she has to share. The Dayton Sewing Collaborative received a large donation of quality quilting patterns and some books. They have asked to sell them at our March meeting. Patterns are $3 each and books are around $10. Please bring cash if you'd like to make a purchase. They will also be sharing a little bit about what they do in our local community. Thank you to everyone who has helped with quilts for Ronald McDonald House. They moved into their new building in Dayton last month. The beds in the new facility are full/queen size. I have quilt kits if anyone would like to take one home to quilt. The kit includes a finished top, batting and backing. Doors will open at 5:30. You will have time to browse the patterns and books available for sale before the meeting. The meeting will start promptly at 6:30. We will start with Show and Tell again this month. Just a reminder that our meetings are scent free. See you soon! Melody H., President Upcoming meetings: March Guild Meeting – Tuesday, March 11 at 6:30pm Kathy Gordon from Kwilty Pleasures will back back for a different lecture and trunk show! Kathy is an Ohio native from Blacklick. She'll be sharing her lecture "Let's Get Wonky", showing you transformations of traditional blocks - making them WONKY. She will be host the “Plaidish” workshop the following day. April Guild Meeting – Tuesday, April 8 11 at 6:30pm Jeanette Andrews, the sister of MVQG member Bonnie Moore, will present, "A Lifetime of Quilting" lecture discussing her personal creative quilting journey and trunk show! From the Vice President & Workshops: We hope those who signed up for the Plaidish workshop are excited for part 2 of the workshop this Wednesday, March 12! Doors will open at 9:30am and the workshop will run from 10am – 4pm. Soups will be available for lunch, but we ask those who can to bring a food item to share. In addition to your prepped fabric, sewing machine and supplies, Kathy suggests bringing a flannel backed tablecloth for laying out your blocks. Looking forward to seeing all the wonderful Plaidish quilts. Thank you, Debbie M., Vice President Membership: Don’t forget to pay your dues for 2025.
